Sometimes it IS jockey-racing

One of the All-Time best rides for bringing in a longshot.

agree- Calvin is incredible. he's the only one that would have ever dared to take the holes he did.

And I don't handicap jockeys.

This was all Calvin Borel. Did you see him hold his horse back??? He was 6 lengths behind the second to last turn at the backstretch and then made one huge move with 5 furlongs left.

Borel said, "Mr. Nafzgar taught me to do that. To be patient with these three year olds. They only have one run in them."

Then he was just screaming and crying some more - good for you, Calvin! :)

You probably won't believe this, but it was being noted on air that the rail seemed to be the place to be today (as it was yesterday). So, think I, if the rail is good, who is Calvin riding in the Derby? Took a look in the PPs and said "Nah." <Sound of head of banging on my desk> Sometimes the racing gods try to tell you something, but it up to you to listen.

I don't think I could have bet that horse if I knew he had his own lane on the rail and a 1/8 mile head start.
