Could not close a quality deal Saturday taking frustrating last leg beats in the Gulfstream and Santa Anita P4's. Meanwhile, the Magna 5 proved as difficult as advertised, producing the first carryover of the season on the popular play. It was an afternoon where I personally wagered better than I handicapped, as spot success kept my day afloat. But overall, it was a day that left me wholly dissatisfied with my handicapping, and I hope I didn't send you down too many wrong paths...

$117k carryover and good card at Gulfstream easily the most approachable action on this Sunday.

Steve, I noticed you left "Fetch You Back" off of your picks. Is there any reason why you did? This would normally be a blue chip rider/trainer play.

Could jump up first start.. Works are OK. Maria's Mon not a great debut sire. Trainer/rider are joined at the hip, so that doesn't add any special appeal. I like the ones that have raced already more, with the Pletcher runner having run VERY big in debut and, to me, an especially likely winner here.

Race 8: #2 - Icon Project (6-1) Trujillo/Wolfson

Race is 1 1/8 mile in the turf. I think being near the rail will be very beneficial for this horse and the expected running style. I found the card to be relatively tough across the board and I expect a lot of prices throughout the day. Good luck to everyone playing today.
