Too bad....long great career with the Colts, but the "cap" is the difference

You had to know this was happening, right?

An aging wideout who clearly wasnt his old self last year. Still a first ballot tripper to Canton without a doubt. King of the sideline toe tapper. A man that did EVERYTHING right in his career, up until the incident in Norf Philly, and that was probably an act of self defense. I know if I was ANYWHERE near that neck of the woods, Id have a tootie on me as well and let it sing if necessary.

Another Cap Casuality.........

End of a great run, Manning/Harrison one of the most potent combinations in NFL history. I think he'll catch on elsewhere. I have heard Tampa mentioned already.

They surely arent headed in his direction. They simply do not make those types of moves with guys on their downside. They are usually the ones in the Colts seat, releasing guys like him.

Dallas and boot Owens?

He should take the paycut and stay with the Colts...or retire. He's had the fortune of playing with an elite QB. To pull a Favre would be unfortunate.

I don't get why guys want to do this when their skills are declining. The team you've been with is far more likely to offer you a better deal than anyone else out there just cause of a sense of loyalty. The same thing happened with Thurman Thomas and Andre Reed after the 1999 season. They were asked to take a paycut and demanded a release. Wound up signing for less than they would have got had they taken the paycut and went onto stellar seasons with Miami (136 rushing yards for Thomas) and Washington (103 receiving yards for Reed).

i agree. he's had a long and great run with the colts, and is where he should retire when the time comes. he's lost a step, and isn't worth what they'd have had to pay him. but if he stayed, he'd have a shot at going to the playoffs yet again...
