Stardom Bound

Touted this horse before she every ran and I'm on board as thinking she's a great one and will only get better.

Races this Saturday to begin her 3YO campaign.

Looking for another exciting performance.

Aside from Indian Blessing and Silverbulletday, there isn't recent precedent for champion two-year-old fillies having big three-year-old seasons. She'll have to buck history.

She is so good. I remember when she was scratched in her first 'entry' at Hollywood Park, I asked Rupert Pumpkin about her and how I thought she might be real talented.

When I met Mike Smith at Del Mar this summer, he was so pissed at himself for losing in her in that Grade 2, and she went and broke her maiden in a Grade 1.

She's the Derby winner unless they cancel the race.

I was there that day. I saw that race coming up and asked an informed member of DT as well as someone on the inside of the sport whether this was a a race with some future stars as it looked llike some nice horse flesh. He said it would be if Stardom Bound would have run and said she was going to be one of the best horses in the world.

He was right and she could be. A nice race to start off her campain and hopefully she will get even better.

Stardom Bound was average today, no one here can seriously think she ran well today, look at that final time.

Danzig 02-07-2009 06:17 PM

i think POTN was more impressive, and that he faced a tougher field.

Agreed.

And, and, he overcame the curse.

Danzig 02-07-2009 06:19 PM

I agree that he was more impressive. I don't know about it being a tougher field though. Papa Clem ran second. He was just coming off of a 1/2 length maiden win in his third try. I Want Revenge has only won a maiden race and that came in his fourth try. His big claim to fame was his close finish to Pioneer in the Futurity. Bittle Road has three wins, all on grass and didn't run all that great in the Futurity. Brother Keith has only a maiden win. What this race showed was that the form of the Futurity held but what it doesn't show is how good those horses will be when they face outside competition.

And if both of them were in with Matto Mondo, a no name grass horse they both would have been drown. I would actually be more optimistic about the runner up in the Lewis.

but haka? she doesn't stack up to them, does she? and yes, far too early in the year to say any of them are anything as yet. still plenty of racing ahead.

these colts are not even really three yet, i don't think you can compare them to older at this point...they haven't even defined themselves just yet vs their peers.
