Torre's Book

http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/9134992/Report:-A-Rod-insiders-blast-Torre's-tell-all

"In his book, Torre says Rodriguez's teammates referred to the third baseman as "A-Fraud" and claims he had developed a "Single White Female"-like obsession with captain Derek Jeter."

Maybe they should of mentioned Torre that night they had the last game at Yankee Stadium(Yankee Circle Jerk.)

Pettitte says he never heard that stuff in the locker room. Cashman says that when A-Rod was a free agent a couple of years ago, some of his star players went to him nearly begging to have Rodriguez re-signed. The post-season failures for him have been noted and noted fairly. But I contend that some of those teams may not have even have had a post-season for him to fail in if not for the brilliance he displays in the regular-season.

i concur - he did carry the team in '07 in may

And for what it's worth, none of the players are backing up Torre's comments.

He's not? Maybe by the standards that he has set you could say he hasn't been brilliant every season but I can't think of a single season when you could say that he's not in the top 10 for that year and in most he's in the top three.

on stats alone A-Rod is the best player in baseball , maybe Albert P is right there with him

but , in the big spot he is just horrible , just horrible

MaTH716 01-28-2009 09:11 AM

Agreed that A-Rod might not be the most clutch player in baseball. But it always seems that the rest of the (very paid all-star roster) seems to always get a pass. In recent playoff failures, it has not only been A-Rod that hasn't come through. Guys like Matsui, Giambi, Posada (who always gets a pass, because he's Captin America's boy) and dare I say it Captain America too haven't produced in big situations.

In 2007 when they lost to the Indians 3 guys hit above 270 in the series and one of them was a guy who only had 4 at bats. Captain America hit into multiple double plays taking them out of potential big innings. But A-Rod in public enemy #1 and still takes all the heat.

gales0678 01-28-2009 09:28 AM

i agree , Jeter will always get a pass until then end of his career because of the teams he won on in the 90's

but - he is regressing and could be argued that he is more overpaid then A-Rod right now

gales0678 01-28-2009 09:33 AM

Pavano , Kevin Brown , Randy Johnson - all busts as yankees

goes to show you the steinbrenner family tells cashman who to get and how much to spend

don't think for a minute if he spoke up for Joe at the tampa meeting it would have matter , Gerorge and crew wanted him out , Cashman will be the fall guy some day to
