NYRA Stewards - Race 7 1/4/09

I have watched this replay about 5 times now and I am probably biased since I had money to win on the 8 and was live in a pk4, but I cannot believe that they disqualified the 8. Sure, there was some contact, but I can't see how it impeded the 2 or the 6. The 8 just seemed to be the best horse in the stretch. Looked to me like this diqualificaion is a joke.

total bs ..where was the foul..and when 3 horses are gaming it out you have to give a little ..on the dqs

in the 5th race the 8 was bumped heavily by the 9 out of the gate . the 8 had to pull up, then continue. 9 won . 8 came in 3rd and they disallowed the claim of foul at the start .

Disaster call, totally lousy. Just lends more credence to Steve's recent piece re: stewards and the complete secrecy and lack of clarity they are shrouded in.
Worst part of this game, without question.

I can't tell you when the last time I saw a dq coming out of the gate. They give them a ton of leeway the first couple strides.

It's just never called.

Pointman, your call was awful.

I didn't see it

but I have a question

was the 8 at longer odds than the horse they moved up?

He was 7-1...second place horse was around 5-2.

I wonder if there has ever been a study showing the number of non-calls for favorites (or horses at shorter odds) not being DQed for the same things that long shots get taken down for.

the stewards have no one to answer to

Bad call. Cost me some $$ too...
