NYS-RWB gets it wrong again with bizarre new rule
http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/mo...the_races.html
New lunacy foisted on players by the NY State Racing + Wagering Board... Bossert's take and Charlie Hayward's angry quote about the superfluous new rule in link. |
Crist picked up on it as well, of course.
http://cristblog.drf.com/crist/ What a stupid rule, even if it doesn't affect me personally in the least (can't remember the last time I had a valuable ticket I sat on.) Just a waste of time. $300 isn't exactly a lot of money these days... $25 to win on a 12-1 shot crosses the threshold. |
years ago i was "stung" by the autotote person(who later stung the track fora half million plus) or the people in the betting office. It was a prince of Wales day at Fort Erie and my favorite teller tipped me the next day that she thought she had punched the wrong $50 win ticket and had punched the winner a 60 dollar horse.
filed a claim for the lost ticket, which did exist and was a winner, but it was mysteriously cashed on the last day before i was to be paid. i was told this is not an unusual happening. as those in the know can just print up the uncashed tickets and then punch in the codes. no flipper is gonna sit on a $700 ticket until the last day before lost tickets get paided off lost tickets are different in most states from uncashed tickets which are forfieted to state/province as to the amount of time for a claim |

So, what will happen with the information collected (like my social #), even if it is not reported for tax purposes? Should I be confident that it will not fall in to the wrong hands? This has the potential for a lot of sensitive information to just be floating around for someone with bad intentions to seize on it. Also just another example of the bettors getting stepped on, when they are the life line of the game. |
NY State and the NYSRWB are incompentent when it comes to regulating horse racing. A scary thought is how does the state and the multiple agencies and authorities run the rest of the state?

By the by, when does Racing and Wagering Board create "laws" ? |

There has been nothing but uniform animosity over the RWB's latest contrivance for which they have yet to offer a single legitimate explanation. The ticketsellers have expressed how insulted they are over it as well. This is strictly an example of uninformed political hacks pretending they are affecting some kind of 'change' when they are only tilting windmills over nonexistant problems.
In fact, by doing this, they only make it appear to a generally un-iformed public like there are 'integrity' concerns, (when none exist on this topic), and further alienate real players. Additionally, they also demonstrate that they have no real interest in working with NYRA for the betterment of racing in New York. The RWB is well aware that every time they do something myopic and injurious to the health of the game, but serving of their selfish interests, it gets pinned on NYRA in the twisted rationale of the anti-Association flacks and tin-foil hat crowd. |
What makes it even crazier is to think they would waste one minute of time on this with the world crashing down around them. Seems like they would have more important things to do.
