I head the GM say that grass doesn't grow in that part of Arkansas until the first of April.

The park is down the street.

would be tricky maintaining a turf course, wrong time of year for it in this area--huge expense installing and then maintaining as well.

Also with it being in the middle of town with Central Ave. to it's west there is no room to put one. Also grass has a hard time growing in Arkansas between Dec. and March during which the meet is being run. Oaklawn and Hot Springs make a great combo. Great night life and even better places to eat. Bath House Row is a wonderfull place to go for a walk during the night after the races. I'll be heading home in March to see them run. We stay out on Hwy 7 at the Baymont over loking the lake. BTW is Cole Norman still in jail?

Not only should any race fan make an earnest effort to visit Oaklawn, going downtown to Bathhouse Row and enjoying a Hot Springs National Park spa visit is unmatched. The hospitality in the boyhood home of Bill Clinton is superior. But I'm not really very objective.
