Tampa Downs Recommendations
 

I'm planning to go to Tampa in early April, probably for the first weekend in April and just looking for recommendations as far as hotels and seating at the track.

The best hotels are near the beach.

The best seats are near the finish line.

There are some new hotels on Hillsborough Ave about 2 miles from the track. I know there is a Holiday Inn Express and think there's a Hilton Garden Inn or Hampton Inn type that's comparable.

There really isn't much other than the typical chain type restaurants / bars around there so going out you'd either have to go out to the beach or into Ybor or downtown St. Pete for nightlife. There are some really nice, albeit low keyed, resturants and clubs in WestChase (World of Beers is fun) about a mile NE of the track.

Seats aren't a problem - Bigsmc is your man; he has the hook up!!!

Hotel options depend on what you are going to do away from the track.

If the track is your main focus, Rude gave you the only real options close to the track. If the beach is your thing, there are tons of hotels from Clearwater on down to St. Pete. If you are into the bar scene, Philscki said it all. Ybor is east of Tampa, you'd probably want to stay near downtown. There is a nice hotel right near the ice arena (the name escapes me) that is near the downtown action as well as Ybor. I'm limited on Ybor options an Ybor vet. could probably help out here with better hotel options.

Seats at the track are not a problem.
