and this article suggests throroughbreds for show horses which I think is good . However, they do not mention the unstabalizing effect of the horrific factory farms, especially in Kentucky .

sumitas deleted his post, I don't want people to be confused about how badly I got "punked" so I am reprinting it My handsome, big, strong, athletic, super conformed yearling will be now pointed to a show horse . He was foaled and raised on the spacious pastures of Irish Hill Century Farm in beautiful Stillwater , NY . Now 20 months of powerful thoroughbred .

For your viewing pleasure here's his site www.saratogawarrior.com . The most recent photos are about 2 months old so he's even more developed now . Quite a bit darker. Very striking . Healthy . Composed dominant temperament. No issues .

A note : He has never seen a sales ring because, imo it's best for his development, and I insist he goes directly to a responsible competition stable .

I don't know why i am bothering to respond, but have you ever even been to a farm in kentucky? Visit one, then go to a hog farm and tell me they are the same thing.

sumitas 11-23-2008 10:39 AM

Kentucky means nothing to me . It's an illusion for a main line to slaughter . It's a spot on a map somebody dreamed up . Let's get back to real horses, shall we ? Instead of biases .

paisjpq 11-23-2008 10:50 AM

yes lets get to the real issue...breeding horses that are not commercially viable and unlikely to be productive racehorses....why don't you trot out to those beautiful pastures where your horses are and get an idea of what they are talking about.

As for pointing you yearling to a show career--not a bad plan, however you will be hard pressed (IMO) to find a high end show stable that wants him. AND what exactly do you think happens to horses that wash out of THOSE programs...newsflash for you, the same thing that happens to any other unwanted horse.

As Hossy would say, I laughed.

NY really needs to stop subsidizing those obscene factory farms in Ky, especially . They've destroyed horse racing as a sport and those farm owners would be better in jail than on the loose .

Who are you kidding ? I don't think you have to be an AP Indy to be a succerssful show jumper. Or have Mr Prospector crosses up the butt either .

sumitas, how do you reconcile your first post with your second? if you feel that there are too many horses, how does breeding more yourself help the issue? especially when you concede he's not viable as a racehorse, and is just one more to be tossed into a rather niche market, show horses.

He is viable as a race horse . He'd be a super horse .

I would not allow those slimy pinhookers to get their grubby paws on him, that's all. I'm pointing him in another direction because horse racing runs horses into the ground and sends them to slaughter .

I'm not breeding any more horses . The sport of horse racing is infested with countless useless barbarians only interested in themselves and profit at any cost .

A 'this is my last post' type of deal?

blackthroatedwind 11-23-2008 01:43 PM

Somebody clearly left the gate unlocked.

I hate when that happens.

The Bid 11-23-2008 02:30 PM

Even with polytrack?

you sound like a peta member. I wish one of these barbarians or shiek mohammed would buy my Detroit Football Lions and restore the roar once and for all!!! We have a 17-0 lead before quarter one is even finished and the circus comes to town.

INT. fumble. INT. fumble. poor tackling. blown coverage. inept qb play. swiss cheese defense. what are they gonna try and do next? get Trent Dilfer out of retirement to play qb? if they are serious about restoring the roar. they will get this fabulous rookie qb playing in New England Cassell. 2 four hundred yard passing games in a row!!!! :$: the stinking Lions break ur heart everytime.

there's a saying that you're either part of the problem, or part of the solution. if you thought there were already too many unwanted horses, why did you breed horses? if you don't want him to end up in the wrong hands, wouldn't the best thing be to keep him? besides, if he was viable as a racer, i don't see why you'd send him to be a show horse--they can be just as mistreated as racers. and i'd imagine there are too many of them already as well....
