russian sub accident

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/27611310/

some of you may have already seen this. i told my son earlier, when i first heard that the freon system was activated, that those who were killed were suffocated. we just got home, and i saw this updated story, which says the same thing.
apparently the russians are still hampered with quality control issues and their hardware. this is a brand new sub-not only did the fire suppression system become active, but the warning system saying it was activated didn't come on either.

rip to the sailors and civilians killed in the accident.

They'll make more. If there are over 200 people on a 70 man sub, then could it be they didn't have enough breathing devices ?

quite possible. that and maybe lack of knowledge of how to use them--then there's whether those in the area were even aware there was a problem...
