Would You Not Accept A Job In A State

Like say South Carolina that was far removed from live Horse Racing? I just got off the phone with my Mom and Stepdad who are now living in South Carolina, Charleston to be exact and she says to me that I need to spend a few extra days here later this month when I am on vacation to see all the job opportunities availble. I'm like Mom, I have a good job here in Ohio but hey I am open to more cash always:D

About an hour after I hang up it dawns on me - their is no friggin live Horse Racing near this town. Am I a degenerate or what. I mean I got Churchill and Keeneland within 3 1/2 hours and all kinds of other tracks within shorter distance.

Am I just nuts or what?

how does this site work exactly? You give them a credit card?

I glanced at it and didn't see any NFL parlays

AeWingnut 11-06-2008 08:32 PM

nevermind... after I created an account I found them.

I didn't want to fund it with my credit cad and they charge for everything.
I would have to win early and often to justify this.
I always mange to play a bunch of teasers and parlays only to have the game I wheel to be my downfall. I had a 10 teamer going along with a few 4 teamers

missed on all of them becasue of 1 stinking game

I was looking at $70k

never got close again

Well you might be a degenrate..... are you nuts? It depends...

Some come to love the Southeast, we loved Charlotte for 5 years and vacationed in Charleston. Do you like warm weather, no snow, ocean, year round golf, knats..... It kind of depends where you live now. Really depends on can you get a job you like and how does the pay equate on a cost of living basis....

Saying you are 3+ hours from really good racing is not that big a deal really, you can probably fly to any of the tracks you now go to, or maybe others in the same amount of time. Many issue to consider beyond access to racing... I bet every day, live in CT and am less than 2.5 hours from BEL AQU and SAR, and still only end up going to see live racing less than 7 days a year on average.

Good luck, but I would check it out if you and your mom get along...

Charleston is a lovely town... you will really like it... but no, I couldn't live anywhere without a racetrack.

You are not nuts, your Mom is nuts

jballscalls 11-07-2008 09:22 AM

the day i live in a town with no racetrack is the day i'm unemployed.

i'm not gonna lie, it would be tough to not have the chance/opportunity to pick up and head to a track at a moments notice

i, personally, would stay put

I moved from Ohio to NC when I was 21. For years there was no horse racing action....then, enter the internet.

I've got in friend in Ohio to open a legal account with one of the top sites and bet and watch racing every day. I get to Saratoga and Churchill and other tracks on occasion.

Having said that, Charleston is one of the best cities in the US with great weather, historic & vibrant downtown, great golf year round, and weather that's fantastic. (execept for very hot in summer and the occasional hurricane)

Not sure where you live in Ohio but I'll guarentee a nicer, better life style.

The Carolina's in spring time is the best place on this earth.
