Tin Cup Chalice to Japan Cup Dirt

From Finger Lakes to a $2.5MM race halfway across the globe. Not bad for a horse that cost $5k. :tro:

Come on, he beat Pyro!

The Bid 11-06-2008 07:49 AM

He beat a lot of decent horses.

I like the move, he deserves a shot. They cover all expense why not roll the dice

It's a rather.... "aggressive" spot.

Was honestly expecting him in the Discovery or some other much more reasonable spot, but hey it's a chance of a lifetime for the owner/trainer, and knowing the way the JRA operates he'll be shipped for free, entered for free, etc. Sounds like the JRA went down the list of American horses and got turned down till they got to TCC.

The Bid 11-06-2008 07:56 AM

They should be calling for Bullsbay

Then Smooth Air should go as well?

What does " he deserves a shot " mean? Roll the dice? You have been inundated by too much trainerspeak. If he deserves anything it is to be placed in spots he can win.....which his connections have done a good job of doing....until now. Plus, he was scratched with a small issue a week ago.....and now he's shipping half way around the world to finish last.

He does not " deserve " that.

I saw a horse running off the wrong way around the race track here at Finger Lakes the other morning, the rider was having big problems trying to keep the horse under control . Turns out it was TCC breezing the wrong way in preparation for the race which will be run clockwise this year for the first time i believe.

If TCC goes to Japan and wins does he win NY Bred HOY ? Over Commentator ?

The Bid 11-07-2008 08:25 AM

I like the gamesmanship BTW. I like that these guys will send horses abroad to run. Yes, I think TCC connections are offered a free trip to Japan they should accept. Hopefully hell make a good account of himself.

As for Smooth Air, they are lucky hes not going over there

Why, would he be an impediment for last?

I'll take even money he DOESNT finish last.

Linny 11-07-2008 11:21 AM

Anyone know of a place to find out who is LIKELY to run?

Either way, TCC is a nice horse and a great story. I have a soft spot for NYB's myself. And I totally get that it's a chance of a lifetime for the connections. But, this is crazy. I just hope he comes back like he left.

Was referring to this...

but I agree with you, I just hope he comes back the way he left. He has the potential to make some nice money next year in what figures to be a miserable handicap division. Can pick off the Cornhusker Handicaps of the world.
