Blackthroatedwind once hit a Pick 6 for $141K?

Wow. That NYT article on BTW tha Steve Byk posted is very interesting. You should get Trader Monthly to run a piece on you. The one they ran on Dontfearthereaper was ok, but it was geared more towards ownership than guys who chase pick 6's.

I hit one for $156K last year as well. They used the other example as I assume they wanted to stick to Saratoga related results.

How much are you betting into them and have you made a profit betting pick 6's? I was thinking of going in with a guy who wants to start playing them, but he is looking for 10K from me and one other person. $30K sounds like a lot to start betting pick 6's, but I guess if you play them for 2-3K at a time that makes sense.

So I guess you where up for those years...

Holy chit.

The $141K win in 1993 was pretty much total luck and a poorly constructed $192 ticket made only because we won a bunch of money in the early double and were looking for some action. The only interesting thing about it is that it is one of the only times I remember a " simulcast " race being part of the Pick-6, as the last leg was a simulcast of the P-Classic from Del Mar. Bertrando won as part of a 3-1 three horse entry...defeating 2-5 Best Pal. I actually knew three other people who were alive to Best Pal but, obviously, no one used the Bertrando entry ( which incidentally finished second as well ).

The one last year, which I split with friends, was ( I think ) a $528 play ( or very close to that ). That is on the high end of plays for me. I actually don't play the Pick-6 that often, maybe a few times a month, and have done OK with it over the years. I hit on for around $10K earlier this year ( I think on Good Friday ) and another for just over $2K and both plays involved investments of around $200.

I'd like to see the board regulars (admitteldly I'm a fringe player) do a group pick 6 ticket for the Breeders Cup this year...is it too early to start talking about that???

If the time comes, I'm down...

This can easily happen. We were doing one for a couple weeks and it kinda fell by the way side

Too many people + too many opinions = a pick 6 ticket no one is happy with.

It is easy man, you have four people in charge, and whoever else is playing. those four people have FINAL say, the others can throw opinions both ways...

Seattleallstar 08-01-2006 12:14 PM

Oracle is the king of pk6s, according to him he has hit every BC pick 6 since 1999

eurobounce 08-01-2006 12:15 PM

I have never hit a pick 6 on my own. However, I did invest in a syndicate and we hit the Breeders Cup pick 6 in 2000. There were 87 of us and we all invested $100. So we had multipel tickets. They payoff that year was $45,772.00.

Kev and I are gonna play a pick six when English Channel runs next, Thats our single

ninetoone 08-01-2006 12:32 PM

Deciding who would be in charge would be the challenge...but I'm with Scav, I think we could easily make it happen...

Next weekend. You can single Showing Up on the same ticket.

GPK 08-01-2006 12:53 PM

trust me...I love the idea...but in a pick 6 ticket, you have to have at least 1, if not 2 singles....good luck even getting your top 4 in charge to agree on those.

ninetoone 08-01-2006 12:57 PM

I agree getting 4 people to agree would be tough...that's why I would suggest ONE person being in charge (like Steve, for instance)...someone with the credibility & respect of everyone...
