John(and Cindy) on SNL last night

McCain did well for his cause last night, loosened up just a tad, and played along with a script that really poked fun at his campaign and VP(Tina Fey played Palin beside him). Even Cindy was there for the opening skit, parodying a QVC show.

Later, McCain was on the Weekend Update section. Writers did a pretty good job.

Dole should've done this stuff. Apparently, he was known in Congress to be very funny

I think I remember McCain's being on SNL a few times before last night. Hasnt he?

I never thought McCain was stiff. To me, he always seemed like he would be fun to have a drink with.

i don't see how acting a fool on a comedy show will help garner votes-i don't get them going on there.
i guess i just can't see some of our greatest leaders from years past going on that show, or anything like it. is this really something we want a leader to do? not that it matters in this case, as mccain won't win. or maybe i'm just a stick in the mud!

you underestimate how important liking a candidate is.

everyone pretends they vote on issues but most actually vote based on the answer to 2 questions:

1) do i like them?
2) are they like me?

nixon went on laugh in in 68 to soften his image and won a close election. i'm not saying one led to the other but there's no political downside to demonstrating an ability to laugh at yourself.

It was a funny skit - that QVC thing.
