Beyer question

AP Race 1- MSW 2yo fillies(off the turf) 1st of split divisions
final time 147.13 - beyer 69

Race 3 same day, same condition(2nd division), same weather conditions
final time 147.32 - beyer 46

What could possibly be the explanation for this?

blackthroatedwind 09-16-2008 08:38 PM

Split variant I assume.

The Indomitable DrugS 09-16-2008 09:21 PM

The weather was listed as "rainy" for the day.

If the weather was consistant - it certainly was a very curious split. A pair of similarly paced and final time 2yo races going two-turns on poly an hour apart with no other route in between.

Hopefully the 46 was supposed to be a 64

There are some tracks (AP for one) where the numbers are strange enough to think that the person doing them is intentionally making poor numbers or completely incompetent.

ShadowRoll 09-16-2008 09:52 PM

I noticed that the first race was listed in the results as "on the dirt."

That aside, assuming there's some flaw in the numbers here, what's the likelihood that the numbers for the third race are in error and thereby creating an edge for betting the third race runners back?

And, if there is an error that can be exploited, BTW, don't go reporting this to Beyer.

.19 seconds = 23 Beyer points... duh!

blackthroatedwind 09-17-2008 08:13 AM

There may be a confusion and they are looking into it. Thanks for bringing it to my attention Chuck.

Yes. Since it was very recent we got to it immediately.

Damn journalistic integrity. Some people are lousy with it.
