Due to wind advisory???

Danzig 09-14-2008 01:27 PM

i believe it. we only had the extreme outer edge over us yesterday, that wind was a bitch.

The wind today at Keeneland was fierce. It made looking at yearlings an adventure. About 5:00 a big tree fell onto barn 18 which is located right next to the sales pavilion and across from the back show ring. Nobody was hurt and the people seemed more shook up than the horses. I just got home about 15 minutes ago and on I-64 towards Louisville from Lexington there was a tractor trailer cab totaled from getting blown into a rock wall. And when I got home my neighborhood which is full of huge, 100 year old trees looked like it was bombed from the downed trees, downed power lines and debris from houses that had trees on them and roofs off. My house had little damage thankfully though my front yard is covered in tree limbs that were cleared from the road to make it passable.

wow, sounds rough up there. i haven't seen any downed trees here as yet, but haven't been out and about much either.
so far two people killed in tx/la from the storm, but another is missing. one lady had a tree fall on her house, on her bed and killed her. the other was a 16 yo boy in la-fell out of a boat and drowned.
the guy who is missing is a texan, swept off a jetty. the coasties are looking for him, but i would think he's lost.

Wind was brutal all over Kentucky today. They have cancelled school in some counties in the western part of the state due to trees that have blown down (power outages and road blockage).

roughly 600k still without power in the tri-state area. I am currently hanging out at the in-laws as they were lucky enough to not have a problem.
reports were 80 mph gusts, they even closed the airport for a while yesterday. We're hoping to have power by tomorrow a.m., but they are saying it could be a week for some. Craziest damn wind I have ever seen around here.
I now have a greater appreciation for people that go through hurricanes because it doesn't look so bad on T.V..

we live in Grove City 8 miles SW of Columbus. our power was just restored yesterday around 8pm and are internet and phone restored this afternoon...and there are still people without power!
