9/13: BEL (5th-10th) + Misc. Stakes

Monster carryover at Belmont became a little anti-climatic with early chalk ($6.00, $5.40, $4.90) coming through in the first half before $12.20, $9.40 and $10.00 winners closed out the sextet. Wager ultimately returned $9,000+, which should have rewarded even those that invested heavily in the sequence.

Saturday features an eclectic mix of stakes action all over the country, highlighted by Belmont's quartet of quality events and Big Brown returning to the turf in a much tougher than expected "Monmouth Stakes". Kentucky Downs opens for their 6 day run with the Kentucky Cup races expecting to draw a big crowd just north of Nashville. In Chicago, the Arlington-Washington Park Futurity drew an overflow crowd of 14 2yo colts and geldings, and may be the best betting race of the day.

Weather will be a concern on the Eastern Seaboard, but for now, it looks like the turf courses won't get any softer than they already are...

Thx Andy...

It rained pretty hard for a while.

The good news is that it's warm and beautiful today, and supposed to be the same tomorrow, so maybe tomorrow will be OK.

As of 12:30 today, # 7 & 10 scratched

Rained at various degrees most of yesterday afternoon and last night.
Cloudy but no rain so far today. Weather reports says no rain until after 7:00 pm. They list the turf as good. They have been working hard to get it back in shape for this race after letting it go over the summer. A shame after what they spent last year on for BC.

What does this consist of exactly? If the turf is listed as good, then they really need to be running on it.

All I meant was that I'm a little surprised that with all the rain that it's listed as good. Really just trying to give those who aren't in the area a little info on condition, weather etc. Heading over to the track around 3. Good luck

G2B,

Thx so much.. We'll take it on the DQ or otherwise. I thought he was the 'right' horse at the 'right' price going in... I have to watch the replay a few more times... Glad it worked out in our direction though I know a few took the short end of the decision..
