mccain's vp

i'll go with a longshot and say he takes lieberman to blunt the bush 3rd term arguement.

downside is he offends social conservative wing again but it's not like they rush to vote for obama in november. lieberman is no risk to ever be presidential nominee on his own so the right wing can sharpen their knives for the fight in 2012 or 2016. they won't be as pissed as they would if he picked ridge.

and lieberman may give him a better shot to win than either pawlenty or romney.

ArlJim78 08-27-2008 11:28 PM

not a chance.

hi_im_god 08-27-2008 11:37 PM

not a great chance.

but i'd make a bet at 20-1.

doubt dunbar wanders down here to tell us what the odds actually are.

ArlJim78 08-28-2008 12:02 AM

it would be the alltime biggest political blunder,
personally i think he's a fool if he doesn't go with Romney, but i have a feeling he might not.

timmgirvan 08-28-2008 08:19 AM

If it was my pick, it would be Eric Cantor.....he's conservative, good voting record, can talk without a cue card and well....you get the picture.....

Coach Pants 08-28-2008 08:27 AM

He should pick Chuck Norris.

Interesting choices here.

The most interesting thing would be a Republican ticket with a Jewish or Mormon VP candidate trying to sell to the Christian right wing.

LOL...even better would be picking Condy Rice (I would actually consider voting for her, but only at the top of the ticket)....having a vendor booth outside the Republican convention selling white sheets would be a goldmine!

He's just going to pick Ronald Reagan and it will be like Weekend at Bernies and McCain will win in a landslide

dalakhani 08-28-2008 05:26 PM

The rumor is Pawlenty is the likely choice.

SentToStud 08-28-2008 06:06 PM

I hope it's not Pawlenty. How the hell does a 6-year in office governor of Minnesota rate being VP? It's not as if Minnesota doesn't let pretty much anyone be governor; Hell, Jesse the Body got elected with 3/8 of the vote.

I just think the guy is probably not ruthless enough to be VP and, maybe, president, especially with McCain's life expectancy being shorter than 8 years with his cancer history.

People like McCain, Obama, Biden, both Clintons, Ridge and even Romney have been around long enough and done enough to make you pretty certain they have succcessfully twisted the knife in many others' backs.

If it's Lieberman, I may just shoot myself. I do not think he even remembers 1/2 of the things he says.

Is that better or worse than a guy who has been a Senator for less than 4 years getting the nomination for President?
