My Saratoga screw up!

Tomorrow is my first day of class and rather than using my twinspires account I decided to take the 45 minute drive to Sports Creek Raceway. I am going to be redboarding, but just to show how stupid my play was.

The past month or so I've been playing pick 3 and pick 4's more and more, today I decided not to. Here is how my bets went for Saratoga today.

Race 2 I had a $5 Win/Place on the 6 Quiet Mover. A nice $55.00 winner and a great start to my day.

Race 3 I remember the bad trip thread and put $20 win on Hatta Fort. A $7.40 winner.

Race 4 I had a $1 exacta box 1,3,5 where the 1 True Resurgence won.

Race 5 I put $20 win on It's Not For Love, who won and paid $7.60.

I know this is a lot of redboarding, and I did have a really good day, but this just proves to me that I should stick to the pick 3 and pick 4's. Damn did I cost myself a lot of money!!!!!!!:zz:

that's okay.. I enjoy red boards

put me down for the exacta in the 3rd, 8th, and 9th (all on 2 horse boxes).

As for a real screwup: this friday I mistakenly bet the 7 horse in the last at AP; when I really needed the 9. Of course, I caught the mistake just before the race and switched the ticket. The 7 won paying $54.00.

Any more redboards or screwup stories?

I am a first time redboarder, and the only reason for me doing so is to show that I finally learned what most people already know, the pick 3 and 4's are where the money is made.

Yes, but they are also the hardest to hit. Yesterday at Saratoga I missed out on 2 different doubles which were worth over $600 on $2. I was playing pick 3's and pick 4's but didn't bother backing up my bets with some doubles.

I guess I can't complain, because it very well could have gone the other way. I could have played the pick 4 and no other win bets and ended up one short and with nothing.

Looks like I need a lot of racing luck to keep my good day going. Placed a couple small bets on the big races at Del Mar before leaving. A $4 win/place/show on the 11 Hurry Up Austin in the Pat O'Brien would pay nice, only 47-1!
