Sar Sun
Couple of interesting situations on SUN at SAR:
1) Hatta Fort comes back in a 5.5F OC race that's just about written for him (mucho tough); while Emirates to Dubai is running in a 7F G2 up in WO. Who, of the intelligencia, thought that E2D was better than HF in the spring? How low can he go? 2) After getting all the worst of it routing on the turf off a layoff, Jibboom comes back sprinting on the dirt in the Ballerina. Interesting move by Frankel (the 1st part of which now makes sense). |
Damn good card overall, especially considering it could have come up light being the day after the blockbuster Travers card. The 6th race, a MSW for 2YO fillies (incidentally, the race Dee Tee's Aldebutante was pointing for), is especially interesting with the return of Nan (who closed like a wildhorse on turf), Pumpkin Shell (who ran well to be 2nd behind Miss Ocean City), and Smarty Marty (Smarty Jones who was touted for her debut and ran poorly) plus new shooters AP Excellence ($875k AP Indy), Nika ($500k Dixie Union), Proclaim ($350k Pulpit), Cheering (AP Indy out of Storm Flag Flying's full sister... working on a sundial schedule though), and Sara Louise (a $550k 2YO in training Malibu Moon(!) who has been working extremely well). There's about 8 in here who could conceivably win.

Check out the headon replay of SAR 8/06 R4. You might find it interesting given your comments the other day about the Country Star non DQ. Keep in mind that this type of 'gamesmanship', as some would deem it, is quite common in races, and, apparently, condoned by the NYRA stewards. I didn't see this race live and have no idea whether the stewards looked at it; but I doubt it. Nice to see Ramon dish it out as he's so often on the receiving end (as he was with Good Request his previous race). |
