Multilevel Irony

Poor Scotty...
The engineer on Star Trek.

His ashes were to be launched into space aboard a private rocket.
The rocket failed 2 min into the flight, So his ashes got burned.
And "he" did not make it into orbit.

I wonder if he gets a refund.

207 other ashes/ex-people also failed to obtain orbit along with him.
They all are probably wandering along the jet stream to be deposited just
about everywhere. I wonder how many of Scottie's former atoms land
in my yard...

The pyramids just dont cut it anymore.

Was gonna make an attempt at humor here but one of the other 207 was Gordon Cooper and that's just a little sad.

These people paid big bucks to send their ashes into orbit...

I find that a bit strange but whatever floats your boat.
I was thinkin maybe some money to a foundation that
might do some good. I bet the Miss Storm cat would
probably give her leftovers to a horse retirement operation.

But who am I to judge. Maybe sending one's ashes into space
is more important than taking care of used animals. I am practicing
the art of self-righteousness and failing.

but how the bloody hell do ashes get burned?

it is a shame about the 208 sets of ashes not getting to outer space.
i'll be wondering this wknd when i dust the furniture......

i don't get people turning their loved ones into created diamonds. to wear. that just seems so odd to me.

i want a viking funeral. but i'm betting it doesn't happen.

Oh, I find it very strange too!

Just one of the damned Mercury 7..... that's a little understandable anyway.

Yes, horsie retirement would be nice.

one level of irony...

They could have sent their whole body up and achieved the same results
at a much higher price... payload's a bitch.

i don't know a lot of the details about this launch but there isn't a whole lot put into orbit that won't eventually return anyway.

did they send it up on a pegasus?

It was a private venture, cant remember the rocket but not a pegasus.
It was their third failure. The majority of the money was to be made from 3 satellites the rocket was carrying. Its the guy who sold Paypal to ebay for around 2 billion bucks who owns the company doing this.

I think the ashes were supposed to keep going being pulled off to who knows where.
I will attempt to find the story.
