Loved how he was lugging out in the stretch.....that's his last race or the greatest play against in the Travers.....EVER!!!!!!!!
if he goes....more "Big Crap" talk the next few weeks.

He won, bearing out a lot in the stretch.

Coach Pants 08-03-2008 05:25 PM

I loved watching him win and the celebration because of threads like this.

Whaaah bad people win races. Like that is something new.

ALostTexan 08-03-2008 05:26 PM

I thought he looked like total sheet. Never should have struggled to win against anyone in that field.

cowgirlintexas 08-03-2008 05:26 PM

Guess his feet were bothering him:rolleyes:

robfla 08-03-2008 05:27 PM

so what. he lugged out. He always lugs out. how does that make him a play against next time??

Danzig 08-03-2008 05:27 PM

if i was ieah, i'd fire desormeux immediately. big brown looked beat on the turn, just like in the belmont.
but kent, unlike in new york, kept after the horse-and they managed to eke out a win. makes me wonder what would have happened had kent done his JOB last time out, and ridden the damn horse!

as for the desire to take on curlin, they had better look elsewhere for their thrills. the chestnut would eat him for lunch.

Phalaris1913 08-03-2008 05:27 PM

I can't call that a strong effort. Up until fairly late in the stretch, it really looked like he was going to lose and in the effort of producing a furlong or so of enough run to win, he lugged out halfway across the track.

Nothing to do with the connections, he ain't that great of a horse....off the board next out or retired.

combined with him being all out to beat coal play? this was not the dominant effort that he showed in florida and kentucky.

He doesn't have to be close to anything resembling a GOOD horse to beat any 3 year old in training. It's already August and there isn't a single 3 year old colt worth a bottle of piss compared to past champions.

ArlJim78 08-03-2008 05:31 PM

looked to me like Coal Play came back to Big Brown, more than it was Big Brown running him down.

robfla 08-03-2008 05:32 PM

coal play ran his eyeballs out. Call me crazy, I thought Big Brown ran a very game race.

definitely

MaTH716 08-03-2008 05:34 PM

Way to go Kent, that's right you are #1. Balls against the wall all out to catch a horse that ran 3rd in an optional claimer last out. Enjoy retirement BB.

That was the first time Coal Play went that far, which is a 100% valid reason for him to tire in the end.
