Open Question: McCain or Obama better for RACING?

Has either candidate taken a position on gambling in general, or racing specifically? Just curious on what anyone has heard on what we could expect with either guy.

Hell, the media has tried to tie the election to everything else...

Mortimer 08-01-2008 07:55 AM

Privately, both admit they would turn their back to state run shell games.

Did you think you would get a serious answer here?

Well..why don't you take a crack at it?

Mortimer 08-01-2008 08:36 PM

I really don't believe it was a serious question to begin with...to be honest.

Mortimer 08-01-2008 10:19 PM

In fact..I think you are partners in deception with the other guy.

Yes.

I think you both thought it would be quite spiffy to throw out a set up, lame brain question as has been displayed ....just begging for a snotty reply....only to have you join in and make the comment you in fact did make.

Oh you two aren't fooling anyone here.

the important jurisdiction for racing is at the state level. that's where it's regulated.

asking what the candidates for president think isn't completely without merit but it's like asking what they'll do about the pothole in front of your driveway.

happy now?

Not sure why you responded in such a manner. I follow politics pretty closely, and rarely see this kind of look at what any of these politicians are like off camera

McCain likes his gambling for show, and likes games of chance, little skill or reasoning involved. He's reckless, not one to have in a position to push the button on Russia
Obama likes more of a thinking game, and is more measured in his approach

Hey, I'm less serious in my "analysis" than the writer of the column is

Michael Vick? There is supposed to be a good show about his exploits on Animal Planet tonight. I have no use for him, let's not put him in the same basket as McCain, Obama and, more importantly, ourselves

Mike 08-17-2008 06:58 PM

I can't find that Michael Vick show in the listings.

Obama is on ESPN, on the High Stakes Poker show

McCain is on ESPN2, playing Russian Roulette from Asia

A lot of news blurbs about that NY Times McCain-Obama gambling article:

I love this quote from Anthony Holden, the well-known British poker-player and writer, from a recent article in the London Telegraph: "We poker players don't call poker gambling. It is a game of skill. Craps is an absurd game of luck. You may have thrilling short term wins but only madmen play craps."

Funny "fake" photo f McCain playing craps in a political ad we'll never see
