Big Brown to Run for ReRun in the Haskell Invitational

Big Brown to Run for ReRun in the Haskell Invitational

ReRun, Inc., the nonprofit adoption program for ex-racehorses with
chapters in New Jersey, Kentucky and New York, announced that owners
IEAH Stables and Paul Pompa, Jr. will have Big Brown, winner of the 2008
Kentucky Derby and Preakness, participate in the nonprofit’s Running for
ReRun program at the Haskell Invitational at Monmouth Park race track on
August 3. According to Felice Busto, Vice President of ReRun, Big
Brown’s owners were more than happy to participate in the program
through which owners donate a portion of purse earnings from a race to
support the adoption of ex-racehorses.

“We are thrilled to be participating in such a great cause. This is a
great way to give back to our industry” said Michael Iavarone, Co-
President of IEAH. This is not the first time IEAH Stables has offered
support to ReRun. The company was a sponsor of and guest at the
nonprofit’s second Annual Day at the Races charity luncheon at Monmouth
Park June 21st, where they were joined by Dr. Patty Hogan, VMD. Dr.
Hogan will be the head surgeon of the new Ruffian Equine Medical Center
at Belmont Park which is being built by IEAH.

Ms. Busto hopes that participation in the Running for ReRun program by
Big Brown’s connections will encourage other racehorse owners to join
the program. “There are so many retired racehorses who need loving,
permanent homes once their careers are over.” said Busto. “This is a
great way for owners to give back to the horses in the industry and help
ReRun so that we can make available to them the more humane alternative
to auctions. Plenty of owners care about the future of their retired
horses and will make the right choice of placing them in ReRun’s
adoption program, but we have to have the funds and resources to keep
that option open to them.

Aw crap. I've been able to bah humbug all the rest of Ivy's lil attempts at making IEAH seem like the People's Stable or the horse racing equivalent of Jimmy Stewart in It's a Wonderful Life. I actually like it when people run for ReRun. Well I'll be happy for ReRun, but it doesn't make me think they're (IEAH) actually doing this for anything other than public perception. I guess the 'no steriods' proclamation didn't really have the intended effect of winning a lot of folks over so they needed something else. Is this fake it til ya make it?

No... I really never thought he'd race again I will admit I am surprised.

I hope he wins and I expect him too.. he seems to be himself again if the workouts have any indication...

I just hope he's healthy come Sunday night. But I am rooting for him.

The angel will manage to land safely though, what with ol' Pillow Lips (Angelina aka Iavarone) puckering up to kiss some arse immediately afterwards.

i'm pretty sure big brown will win it.

but what if he doesn't? i think that's why dutrow hasn't been as confident as he was going into big browns other races, i think he feels he's on the hot seat.
