They left him too much to do in the last quarter. He wanted to run in the middle of the race and I think they should of let him roll.

Not that it means anything but i thought he looked really good in the warm up to the race and he did seem a bit rank coming out of turn 2 heading down the backstretch. Not the worst effort in the world.

He's lost a step no doubt, at age 9 can we blame him...I thought his first race under Mandella showed some promise. Maybe I was wrong, he certainly hasn't progressed for Dick.

If the horse wants to race, let him race. I'm not one who believes that Perfect Drift has some 'legacy' we should be afraid to tarnish. The horse has been a nibbler forever and continues to be one. As long as he's not getting trounced or injured, what's the big deal in trying to get some green out of the old guy?

philcski 07-28-2008 09:49 PM

He ran OK. Was wide both turns and still made a decent run. Was a fast race.

Wanna see some cool PP's? How bout this old guy:

Good stuff, won his first Graded Stakes race at the big A on Halloween, at a mere 65/1!

Interesting that he has only been posttime favorite i 15 starts and has only won 4 times as the fav, 3 as a MTO

Check who he beat that day... only one of the world's hottest sires, STREET CRY.

Also check out his stakes debut... a TRIO of top sires ran 1/1(dh)/3. I was at Saratoga that day, and I was still in COLLEGE! I suddenly feel much younger :)

Old guy at an OTB once told me horses that spot the field 10 lengths every time generally aren't a good bet :D

I think I counted 13 "off slowly" or "hesitated start":D I would imagine there is probably more than that.

A rarity these days for sure...Hope he makes it to the Breeders Cup and wins..What a neat under-rated horse he has been.
