The Worse Golf Stance - EVER!

I decided to play a quick 9 at my home course and paired up with these 2 guys. We shake hands, etc etc on the first tee box. I ask them to go first so I can warm up a little. First guy on the tee, normal stance, normal swing out bout 225 on the par 4 nice shot. Then, uh................................................ .....

This guy tees his ball up. As god as my witness, he "squares" himself to the ball this way - his right foot is at least 2 feet behind his left, and he is right handed. I am tellin you he hit more arrant shots, wacks all over the course then any golfer I have ever seen.

I politely asked him after our round if he has always had this stance. He said yeah, heck he said he shot a 34 last week. :zz:

I have students that I work with use that as a drill. Helps in preventing them from swaying too much with the body and forces them to turn with their shoulders and torso instead.

Whats with the drill that Padraig was doing Sunday with two gloves under his arms?

Didn't see that one. It sounds like he may be trying to keep the club more on an inside path??

i don't get it.

i'm right handed and from the green my right foot is always behind my left.

what kind of golf have you guys been playing?

this is me: H

should i be playing like this?: X

the errant shots sounds familiar so maybe i am doing it all wrong.

I have seen Vijay do something similar with a towel under his arm, but I think he uses that drill to prevent from double crossing. I know he can get that swing going sometime when he is trying to hit a fade, but pulls it dead left.
