If you do that harness racing stuff and get hurt, I'm sure someone will be "johnny on the spot" to fix it!

Heck, I'd do that ride, too.

Just don't bet the trotters and pacers. Art Bier and Northfield took away my pleasure in betting that sport forever.

Seriously, that sounds like a fun use of $$.

Art Bier -- LOL, there's a blast from the past. Eventually made his way to the Meadowlands. His children are in the game now.

My brother was in a golf tournament with Art Bier once, and he said Art was a pretty nice guy in person that day.

But honest to goodness, being at Northfield for years completely cured any betting desire I might have to bet any driver in a sulky.

That does look really fun. I have always heard how cool it is to ride in the starter's car, but this would be a hell of alot cooler...

Remember Ray Sugg...what was he 280 lbs. I felt sorry for any horse having to cart his ass around.

If you are talking about the driver/trainer from OH, not sure if he had a brother or something, but you might be talking about Ivan Sugg. He had his kids in the business with him as well. It was very sad, but one of the sons died of cancer when he was young (late 20's, 30's maybe). ANd yes, Ivan was a bit of a big boy.

Eric, right on with the Sugg family info; they are out of tiny Deshler, OH my hometown! Father Ivan, a very successful trainer (won the 2003 Pacing Triple Crown with No Pan Intended) and his sons, Kurt and Duke who are currently drivers and as mentioned, his oldest son Steve, who was a very good driver until cancer claimed his life way too young. Just a terrific harness racing family!

I didn't know Art Bier had a son driving.

A google search leads me to believe it must be Sean. From a cursory google view, looks like Sean has driven in New Hampshire and Delaware of late.

The first son to drive was Daryl. I don't remember if he was the oldest or not. The next son never drove. He went to college and went to work with Art, kind of like a second/assistant trainer. I just don't remember his name. The youngest son was Sean.
