The "Colonel"---Swaps

It would be nice to see CJ and Gomez come to the Spa for the Travers primed and ready after a nice convincing Swaps score. Gomez will make a nice middle move, I'm not giving up yet on this one. I like Harty's comments and vibe, this horse is still a player in the 3 year old division. Ya, I know he's gonna be short today, I just wanna see a solid effort so he can come East and beat up Mr.Brown on travers day. I love the money move to Mr. Gomez(All Business) Here comes the Colonel!!!!

He's still a player in the division, but no room for error. I'll be curious to see how he does on dirt if he does make it to the Travers. If- big if- he was able to win a couple of more, you couldn't really toss him from BC consideration given his proven success on the cushion track. I'd take him over Brownie on cushion at a big multiple on odds, and nothing in the handicap division scares me that has their sights on the Classic.

Way to be 3 wide the whole way in a 4 horse field GO-GO. Enjoy Del-mar you are going to be missed in Saratoga.

That's just a DUMBASS ride. No other way around it. And he and the other idiot opened up the rail for the winner. That's just embarrassing. I mean, how do you find the balls to face the connections after a ride like that?

How should he have been ridden?

agree, count me as one who has never been that impressed with that horse. I dont like his action and he has never run fast.

Bobby Fischer 07-12-2008 07:49 PM

the race today was highly dependant on the surface bias and threat of the #2 horse. However Colonel John owes most of his success to Synthetic surface and fair to closer bias. It's not like we can just excuse him for being the best in this race and losing to a trip and a surface today.

Kudos to Baze on his heads-up ride on Tres Borraches. Jockey won the race

his third in the highly rated arkansas derby was right there with the others, and he out tripped the other two horses, heard to believe he was 11/1 given the relatively minor merritts of this field. I didn't bet him but he was not impossible.

Bobby Fischer 07-12-2008 09:47 PM

worst animal in the race overall, less awful on synthetic than dirt, well suited to the speed-bias but inferior to the #2 in speed , exiting race 2nd to the #2 in speed,

needed scenario: if outbreaks the #2 has a chance to wire the field

hindsight: or of course, if col. john overcompensates for tracke bias, #2 doesn't break well and col.john/#2 battle wide entering stretch, giving Tres Borachos the rail ...
then yah

to be honest there wasn't really a good case to be made for playing that race at all. someone could have guessed the exact odd scenario and it still wasn't worth playing that race.

Same old T BAZE. He is world-class on mediocre horses that don't figure. I would donate $100 right now to a fund to pay his a-s-s to go ride elsewhere. He will bring your single in 2nd, and then the next race(you go three deep) and that lil bitch will get the 4th or 5th best horse to produce. Then he will smile like he's gettin' blown.

LOL! Same feelings here. He has done that to me one too many times.

I had Tres Borrachos as a horse to watch today, but me and a couple of my friends got drunk and I forgot to go bet him.

(seriously, I've watched that horse for some time now, and not surprised at all he apparently did well.....just P.O'd at myself for not showing up today, I guess)

Perfect horse for you and your friends. Should have bet him on his name alone.
