Rondo

Rondo was timed winning her maiden race in 109.86.
The winner of the feature was timed in 111.63.

Did the track get that much slower as the day went on, or
would Rondo have won the feature by daylight???

Rondo is a 3yr old, they are 2yr old fillies.

The track was fast with a strong speed bias that only Awsome Twist overcame in a great close. I've seen winning times 2 sec. slower for the Schylerville in years past. True Love won in 1:13 I believe.

My Mistake

Thanks Bold Ruler, obvioulsy should not be compared given age differential.

Still, Rondo appears to be a nice 3YO filly...

Rondo is actually a 3yr old colt that is owned by Godolphin. I believe they bought him for close to $3 million. Very impressive though.

Rondo is a colt I believe (who cost a large sum of money). He has a ton of potential and I believe he will be a late bloomer and a superstar at that. I think next year he will be a Grade I winner and one of tops in the classic division.

While Rondo might "appear" to be a nice 3yo filly, I think he is a colt.

Damn, three of us caught that one at the exact same time

It is understandable that PSH thought that though because it is Saratoga and the big maiden winners are usually three year olds, especially the $3M ones.

I think you are getting a little anal. If you want to write a book and be specific it was 2.9M as a 2yr old and $450K as a yearling. I really doubt Godolphin is worried about that 100K.

Regardless of money and gender, does anybody else think that he might turn into an absolute superstar? All of his races were extremely impressive (the only reason he didnt break his maiden at the end of June was Prado smacking the other horse across the face and getting DQ'd)

He is very talented and with their money they have been able to be patient. He definitely could be a force, maybe even later this year.
