I love that Woodbine turf course, looks promising if the rain stays away.

I'm shocked he hasn't given us his cold P3 for these races yet.

He's waiting until he reads all the names.

i have looked at the pp's... and IMO she will go off as the favorite.

jcs11204 06-19-2008 06:36 PM

i just double checked, just for you BTW, and she actually lays over these, she should be around even money, anything higher is value.

blackthroatedwind 06-19-2008 06:45 PM

Even money in a 14 horse field?

The usual $16K monopoly money?

ninetoone 06-19-2008 07:28 PM

"Ginger Brew, whose presence adds plenty of spice to the Queen's Plate, is the only filly in the field and comes off a smashing victory for trainer Brian Lynch in the 1 1/8-mile Woodbine Oaks on June 8. "Supplemented to the Queen's Plate at a cost of $25,000, Ginger Brew will break from post 10 after drawing the eighth pick and is the projected third choice at 4-1 under returning rider Javier Castellano.

There are 5 maidens and 11 horses eligible for a N1X in the Queen's Plate and a filly is going to be a heavy favorite. Get your PPs handy.

It's a pretty thin field to say the least. The filly is OK....but so is Bond's maiden that ran second in the Plate Trial.

IrishofNDMan 06-19-2008 08:54 PM

Probably not a good price but I like Not Bourbon and even Palmers a little.

Bobby Fischer 06-19-2008 09:27 PM

Ginger Brew was impressive the way she handled the kickback in the OAKs. Castellano shipped in and rode that race as if he wasn't the least bit aware that there is a massive kickback cloud. She has sharper faster races than Solitaire thus far. Needs to use the tactical speed a bit more.

Solitaire is the best animal. He will have to circle the field after a grueling trip to win.

tough race to handicap.

CSC 06-20-2008 08:32 AM

The 2 horses likely to be overbet in the Plate are Ginger Brew and Solitaire. I'm going to backtrack a little on an earlier opinion I made of Not Bourbon not being able to get the 1 1/4, it's still a question mark but after reviewing the Plate Trial the only horse making ground on him was Solitaire in the stretch. If there are enough question marks about him getting the 1 1/4 and he goes off as the third choice I'd say he would be the one to look at, a longshot to look at also would be Sebastian's Cat who made a early move on the turn, abeit premature. He could run better.

Queen's Plate? Canadian racing? Irrelevant.
