Every day is Father's Day and a good day to remember my old man. When he passed away ten years ago, I took his ashes out to Arlington Park and spread them in the turn near Trackside where he spend so many afternoons and where we did our best bonding together. I thought in that turn he could watch every race set up and would be as happy as a clam. Now when I walk by on my way to Trackside, I hardly recognize him. Thanks to the infinite wisdom of Arlington management, they've morphed that poor sumbitch into an all weather polysurface. Sorry Pop, but Happy Faddersday. (From the looks of things out there right now, it looks more like muddersday!)

I just wanted to say to those who have lost their Dad's I wish you a day of happy remembrances.

I know today might be a little (or very) hard, but still... i hope that the good outweighs the bad and that you can smile and think back on happy times and special memories and maybe even laugh a little.

Love to all of you.

A huge post. Thanks and best wishes to all Dads. I know that you all have great memories of going to the track or taking your children to the track. For me, I was ten, my Dad took me to Santa Anita. I was twenty five and took my two daughters(at the time) to the opening at the Woodlands where they met Mr. Shoemaker. My youngest got to go later after she was born. Teaching them to read a Racing Form was some of the best fun I ever had. I know a lot of you also share that experience. Now they have families of their own. New railbirds. God bless to all. :tro:
I have to add this, my oldest daugher at 19 when we were at Remington, said "I can't believe how stressfull this is". Well, she won and that pretty much set up the rest of her life as far as racing was concern.

Just one post script. I took my kids to the track. Now that does't make me Dad of the Year. but is is important to my point. You can't take your kids to a casino. For the most part you can take them to the track. Great math lessons, lots of fun and you are participating in a great tradition. You want to grow the sport? Better get your kids to the track. Think about it.!:{>:
