As long as it doesn't play out like the last one, here's the way to start getting some bite behind the bark.

yeah, i saw this story a few weeks back and posted about it, chuck said that it probably won't hold up-which is a shame.

i don't suppose there is any kind of contract or such signed by trainers/owners, etc saying that the jockey club or track officials can toss your butt, or suspend you, for cause?

I don't know the details, but the Meadowlands (and Monmouth) are owned and operated by NJ State. Most places have terms and conditions on the stall application. Some places they can refuse entries or stalls. There should be more ways that tracks, management, etc. can deal with these issues.

What I don't like was the last time a harness trainer and driver got caught -- there was a celebration that they handed out some massive fine and a 10 year plus suspension. I think the driver was back in about a year, and the trainer is still out but competing back in his home state. Again, I don't remember the details as to why and how this developed.

A lot of the harness trainers train off of farms and training centers therefore never file stall apps. A priavtely owned track would have a whole lot more leeway in refusing entries than a govt (kind of) run track like the Meadowlands. I believe that a judge ruled the penalties to be excessive and reduced them in that other case????

Yes, there are private training centers, however -- they must all be "licensed" as training centers by the state (You cannot ship in to the track from an unlicensed facility). In NJ, I don't know about refusing entries vs. being suspended, denied a license, having your license revoked, etc. I don't think it makes a difference.

As far as the judge ruling those penalties excessive -- I didn't know that. I would think the tracks, states, etc. would want to take a stand on that. First, I don't know the track record(s) of those involved. Second, although I haven't read the transcripts (if they are available), I would think the state did not pull out all the stops -- every possible charge, grounds, etc.

I doubt I'll have the time, LOL, but I'd be curious as to the details.

I ate a Frisco Burger, but it feels like I ate a hog. I can't remember what my dad had, and he probably doesn't know either. Fathers Day is taken care of.

If you ever want to eat light at Ruth's Kris, they have a really good seared ahi appetizer. Sometimes I'll get that along with some type of potatoes if I don't want to get too filled up.
