Did IEAH actually get $50 million for Big Brown?
 

Does anyone know if this is a real number and how the deal was structured? It is hard to believe anything IEAH says.

If they really got $50M for the horse than I see no way Clay would have made a deal that doesn't allow them to determine if the horse keeps running.

If Big Brown were to run another similar race in the Travers or Haskell I think you would have a hard time getting people to pay even $20K to breed to the horse, especially considering he comes out of the Dutrow barn.

The real number...They got 5 million for 10 percent of the horse so they value him at 50. Nothing they say is true

That is quite a big difference. Basically they got enough money to help pay the insurance to keep him racing or to offset the cost of Court Vision.

How does that work, 10% of the breeding rights, or 10% of the horse period.....The whole breeding game is pretty intense from a contractual standpoint

I was under the impression that the breeding deal was sold in shares that totaled $50 million and $5 million or 10% was purchased by Clay and this allowed him to stand the horse. IEAH still maintains rights on and off the track. This deal sounds very similar to the Smarty Jones deal. Scavs you are right it is intense all the way down to the stall in which they end up calling home.

Racing needs more guys like these. Really honest straight-up guys.:rolleyes:
