DRF... why don't they put the numbers??

I don't understand why they don't have the horses numbers next to their names... Philly, MTR, Cln.. yet others do.. when you draw you know their Post position... why isn't it published... screwed me up today... philly! I looked on their website for scratches.. they didn't list the AE's scratches...

I don't know what edition you have but don't they print the early ones before they draw?

Scav 07-25-2006 04:01 PM

Actually, it matters alot....You will notice that alot cards are drawn and posted as the post positions on DRF, and then updated with coupled entries and morning line odds a day later. Once they get the entries get drawn, they print them up right away and get them to their distributers, it makes perfect sense.

when you enter.. you draw within hours... when you draw its for post position... they can't tell you who's in til they close... which is the draw..

Scav 07-25-2006 04:05 PM

Whatever you want to call it, fact is that DRF and Equibase do the same thing, the day they post the entries on their website you have no saddle numbers next to them, the next day you have those saddle numbers

Samm 07-25-2006 04:10 PM

down here your not allowed to know who is in til the draw.... just seems pathetic to me... why buy the paper?? or is this the way to make an edition?

Well Samm Not always. Should there be an Entry in a race and part of, or all of the Entries Scratch than the Betting number (not Post Number) will change. It happened last weekend at Colonial when both the entire 1 entry and 2 scratched thus, changing the Betting numbers to what in effect was their PP. Well if your into advance handicapping to choose the best betting races for a contest, or just gambling that weekend for instance, you want the advance edition. if your a casual bettor, you are right you wouldn't want to look at an advance edition. Do you ever download the DRF into formulator at all? They always have advance editions without M/L and posts in most cases, as well as Final editions with M/L and closer look added.

PS Tell Steve Byk I (NC Tony) will see him this weekend at the CUE!!

I don't get it... the post postion can change at the gate... I've been going to the draws for years.... they pull a pill and thats your number... except of course an entry.... the draw is for Post postion...

NoCarolinaTony 07-25-2006 04:33 PM

It's the difference between an Advanced edition and a Final. A field with entries that scratch early change the betting number only not the PP. I thought you had complaints about the betting numbers.

Gate scratches changes PP at the gate but thats a different issue.

Yeah I was in a rush a couple of times and ended up with early editions. Sucks, but I understand the problems.
