Travers Winner....

Someone with a super pedigree... Someone who will only get better with distance, experience and as he gets older, someone who was flattered with the result of the belmont today..

Does anyone know who i am thinking ?

hockey2315 06-07-2008 11:10 PM

He sucks.

Is Da' Tara going 14f next out?? He was the only one flattered with his Belmont performance. But in all honesty, he won't be better at 14f. I do like him having no MR P in his pedigree however...I agree.

Only 3 horses are interesting for the Travers in my opinion. Maybe four. If you can name three of them I'll be your new best friend now that Hossy ditched you.

i am talking about roman emperor, who beat da tara last time out at pimlico.
he is a empire maker, who i have liked all year, and he has kinda been a disapointment, but he did run da tara down in his last, and he is tactical.

you don't get an unlimited number of guesses. . . but I think you got one or two of the ones I was thinking. Roman Emperor is really not a good horse - I'd be more interested in Barrier Reef if he ever resurfaces.

roman emperor did give barrier reef everything he could handle... i agree with you roman emperor is not great... but no one is... and with his pedigree, and running style, he might be a good one this summer.

Why don't you just bet an all/all exacta??? With the exception of you, of course...

I already posted this in another thread about a week ago, but I'll re-post it again here. Apparently not everybody saw it.
After careful consideration and the due preparation, here is my Travers play:

I'm going with:
$5 exacta box: 2-5
$1 trifecta: 2,5 / 2,5,7 / 1,2,5,7

The #2 figures to get a good ground-saving and stalking trip and should be ready to pounce coming off the second turn. I think the only one likely to beat him is the #5 because he looks like the lone speed, and given his impressive wire-to-wire performance in his last, and his strong series of works over this track, he should be a big factor.
If the #5 gets hooked early, look for the #7 and the #1 to benefit and come flying late. The #7 should improve returning to dirt, and we all know how the #1's connections have been performing at the Saratoga meet so far.

I think you're foolish to dismiss the #3 in this spot. I mean, I respect your handicapping skills and we all saw what the #2 is capable of. But I don't see how you can't include the #3, especially at that price.

And the connections of the #1 piss me off.

Yeah, the #3 is okay, but I got a tip that he is going to scratch.
I was playing Dungeons and Dragons with his groom last night, and he told me that the colt is skipping the Travers and just going to train up to the Super Derby. I don't know how the connections think he is going to win there given how the #4 horse in that race has looked recently, but I guess stranger things have happened.
