6/1: Belmont (4th-10th)

Double carryover day mostly a miss for me Saturday suffering through poor results at Belmont before finally finding some winners at Hollywood later in the afternoon. New York sextet delivered $186,000 to three clever players on a series where 4 of the winners (5th, 6th, 8th, 9th) were horses I had no interest in whatsoever...

Hollywood started well and stayed solid as rolling P3's through the card. Highlight was the $16.00 Kathy Walsh winner Whatsitgonnatake in the 7th who was a "Best Value" play that kind of jumped out at me. P6 at the Wood returned $23,617 when 15-1 My Friend Luis upended the nightcap...

Overall, a difficult afternoon, but resounding Ohio Derby win by Smooth Air was more than enough to brighten the day... Hope you did OK. Will try to get it back Sunday at Big Sandy on a highly entertaining card to bring us to the doorstep of Belmont Stakes Week and another try at a Triple Crown...

Lemon Law being ignored here in the 4th.. 7-1. Equitable getting hammered down to 3-2.

Certainly was hoping for a bit better than 9-2 on Dynamo...

the_fat_man 06-01-2008 01:37 PM

This is odd.

Appears that a hot walker was handling Equitable throughout the post parade? And he's still sweated up.

The hotwalker or Equitable?

Kasept 06-01-2008 01:49 PM

Watching replay now... Was Blazing Dynamo "refusing to go by" or did Equitable just hold him easily "safe"...? Maybe a bit of both...

asudevil 06-01-2008 01:52 PM

Very late stretch they appear to come together very slightly, at which point Kent stops whipping and basically cruises to the wire. It's odd that BD not only couldn't gain after that but lost some ground.

How does Cornelio go from being drawn third off the rail and saving ground to all the way 5 wide?

Caught the exacta but missed the tri. Andy talked about the 4 there this morning and I should have included her...

It was certainly a bizarre ride. I had her keyed in everything so I went down in flames. Somehow I had the top 3 on all my tickets and didn't cash anything.

Mike 06-01-2008 02:23 PM

I'm going with Roman Coliseum, healthy today, I hope

tiggerv 06-01-2008 02:43 PM

Another incredible ride by Cornelio
