Annika to retire

I will be forever grateful that I had the chance to see one of the greatest ever tee it up on a regular basis. While caddying, I was fortunate to get paired with her a few times. As great a golfer as she is, she is an even better person. I will miss her competitive fire and she will be sorely missed by anyone that loves and appreciates golf.

Do you think Ochao ( or whatever her name is) had anything to do w/ this? Was she just not up for grinding it out against somebody new? I remember you posting a while ago that would be a great rivalry..too bad it won't happen now. Although, she really has...done enough

I really don't think Lorena has anything to do with it. I know her and Mike want to start a family after they get married in January. It's tough for those women out there to maintain their level of play after having kids. Their priorities change. I think Annika could have played for many more years and broken every LPGA record there is...but she obviously feels its time for her to walk away and I can respect that.

thnx Kev...she always seemed "young" to me..just hard to equate that w/ retirement, although I understand her priorities

I've played worse since I started to look pregnant

kev i had a chance to see her today in NJ - boy she just stripes it every time , right down the middle of the fairway -

i'll tell why she and ochoa are champs - kev they both had early am rounds , i stayed till about 4 pm and on my way out the only 2 players left at the golf course that weren't playing in the afternoon were lorena and annika - lorena was putting on the green with herself and her caddy and annika was hitting balls to her man out in the middle of the range - he was catching her 9 irons with a baseball glove!!!

Perhaps this is why Annika retired.
