Alex Waldrop on FoxNews
Waldrop was on FoxNews just a moment ago arguing with some lady from PETA.
He seemed argumentative and rattled. He also said something that to me, an industry outsider, thought was a poor choice of words: When the PETA rep questioned the administration of non-raceday drugs to horses for the purposes of numbing pain that might be indicitative of an injury, Waldrop asked, "So horses shouldn't get the same kind of medication that people do?" If I had been the PETA rep, whom I disagree with, I would have said "Well no, they shouldn't be treated in the same way people are treated, because people don't have to be euthanized when they break their legs." Luckily, the PETA rep was asleep at the switch, or she was too buzy talking over Waldrop. I would be curious to hear if any of the horsemen on this board think Waldrop's choice of words was poor. |
Tried to find that interview video, not up yet. Let us know if you see it?
One thing to know about PETA is that facts don't matter, so to try and argue fact with them (correct their inaccuracies) is fairly useless, they just shout it down. There is a good video interview from Thursday, however, where Larry Jones and Rick Porter carry themselves very well against the beyond idiotic and ill-informed PETA rep (that they can say this stuff with a straight face shows how whacky these people are) Under Top Videos, "Trainer and owner respond to charges" Jones told the obvious - two officers documented every person that went into that filly's stall for a week, she received no injections, etc. Jones is very articulate, seems quite a smart guy. |
I think the industry would be better served by having someone be a spokesperson for interviews and such-someone with the knowledge and ability to discuss things rationally, coolly, and have all the necessary facts and is capable of answering any questions asked. The last thing we need is someone who is as limited in ability as the person they are debating.

I saw the show and I didnt find him rattled. I found him outraged at the stoopid statements of the Peta person. She said 90% of ex racehorses go to slaughter, they just love to make statements like that so that the uninformed people get all riled up.

90%?!?! where do they come up with things like that?
