The best player in baseball

is Hanley Ramirez. Guy is doing it all. He'll go for $20 Mil a year at least when he hit free agency. Just had his season long stolen base streak stopped yesterday when trying to steal home.

Marlins doing great. First place with a total team payroll $9 Million less than A-Rod makes.

All they need is Here'sJhonny to insure their place in history for this year.

Cannon Shell 04-28-2008 09:04 PM

Enjoy the Marlins success while it lasts. Enjoy Hanley till be goes back to the Red Sox.

mclem10011 04-28-2008 09:12 PM

Wow.......

That would be a great get for the Red Sox!

Mortimer 04-28-2008 09:54 PM

They really lucked out with Anibal's arm falling off. That and Beckett having at least one really good year should keep them from being brought up in the worst trades in history arguments.

That and the fact that they probably do not win the World Series last year without Beckett.

I would like to submit the name Jason Michaels as a candidate.

Well considering in the first year of the trade Annibal Sanchez was 10-3 with a 2.83 ERA while Beckett sported an ERA of 5.01 and Hanley Ramirez has turned into one of the best in baseball it could have been a pretty terrible trade had Annibal's arm stayed intact.

If he's a good bb player...then no.

I'm not sure what to say....you do know that they got Mike Lowell too right?
The guy that hit .324 with 21 HR's and 120 rbi's while finishing 5th in the MVP voting in the regular season and won the World Series MVP last year. Beckett has been 36-18 for them the las 2 years, 20-7 last year while winning the ALCS MVP and finishing 2nd in the Cy Young voting.

Martin threw out Hanley twice tonight (trying to steal 2nd.) I'd say the 1st place for the fish is gunna be temporary.I mean, look who ya had to throw at us tonite in the 9th.That Gregg guy that the Angels didn't want. Can't even fool 40 year old Kent.Dodgers are very poor on the road.If you can't take them easily, then ya got some problems with pitching(trust me,dat be it..we can't hit unless you make mistakes.)

I harbor no illusions. Marlins are a $20 Mil payroll team. If they can stay .500 for a couple more months it will be a miracle. Once Aug comes and Dolphins start camp, no one will care anyway. Our "ace" G. Olsen goes tomrrow.

If he pitches decently, then we will lay down.

You are right that Lowell came through for them but at the time he was actually a salary dump by the Marlins who forced the Sox to take on his full salary in order to get Beckett. Funny how it works out a good trade when the guy they had to take on to get the deal done works out.

The title of this thread made me think that Alex Rodriguez, Manny Ramirez, Albert Pujols, Vladamir Guerrero, and Ichiro Suzuki had all retired.

SCUDSBROTHER 04-30-2008 08:23 PM

Stud,I like hitting against this Tankersly dude. That's the triple A type we can hit.Billingsley has decent stuff, huh? HEADCASE SHOULD BE WINNING 15-20 GAMES A YEAR.He is weak inside, man.
