Assmussen talking about Curlin

On today's Down the Stretch on Capital OTB-TV, Assmussen mentioned that there is a good chance Curlin wont run in the BCC if it is on synthetic. He also alluded to the possibility of another overseas trip. Very interesting stuff.

The interview was conducted on Fri and recorded to air today. Mark Cusano was the interviewer. It's very big news and I'm surprised no one posted about it!

I would love to see him run in the Arc....could that be a possibility?

I don't believe that Santa Anita has made a definitive decision yet....and hopefully they won't abide by that sham of a meeting recently where trainers were hand picked because they are pro-synthetic.

Either way santa anita does not have polytrack so I am not sure how its "absolutely on polytrack"

Linny 04-26-2008 12:33 PM

Assmussen referred to it as "synthetic" rather than using a specific brand like PolyTrack or Cushion Track. I think that the 10f Champion S might be better for him if her were to try grass in Europe. Japan has the JC Dirt as well.

Thats not very sporting.

Let the best horse in the World
beat all comers in knee deep mud.

Its a better betting race without the horse, let him stay home, the breeders cup is not about identifying the best horses anymore so who cares.

thats what he mentioned, he said the owner wants it . he also talked about avoiding some surfaces. he didn't want to run pyro at hawthorne or aqueduct. i don't think he wants to run curlin at SA. two years in row if it stays at SA, what are the people thinking at the BC board meetings. that should be the last place, unless they straighten it out. this years meet was a joke.

If the race was held over a synthetic track - I think I could probably outrun about 30% of Asmussen's stable...but Pyro might nip me at the wire.

This does look like bluffing though.

i would look out for z fortune too. he was saying the arkansas derby was a key race. this could be the real bluff because he will probably be an overlay. i have a feeling he was in arkansas that day because he thought z fortune was going to win, the horse ran very good .

z fortune has been the bridesmaid to several winners this year. he could manage another board finish saturday.
