You know my feelings. If the horse is healthy enough to run and he's happy being in training and racing, I see no problem with it. The horse doesn't know what level of racing he's running at. He just knows he's back to doing what he was bred to do. Some say that he deserves better because he's earned a lot of money on the track. I never have believed that makes sense. He may have been a better horse than 90% of the horses out there but that doesn't mean that he's tried harder than they have. He doesn't deserve better than the $5k claimer from Yavapai that goes out there 20 times a year and tries as hard as he can does he? And maybe for him, racing is better than being turned out on some farm.

Mullins will have the old man opening races by daylight in the first quarter and winning in sprints very soon. He has that magic "touch" with claims.

Doubt it... Supah Blitz was the depest of the deep closers. We're talkin as deep as such runners like Milwaukee Brew and Freefourinternet lol. But if he's effective enough to take down an allowance or two, at least they'll make back the 30k they spent on the claim. He still might have potential as a regional sire down the road anyway (could be a premier MN sire lol).

I can't believe that's automatically true. Are you saying that all horses have the same natural ability and that the thing that separates the good ones from the bad is how hard they try? I would think that there are some horses, that no matter how hard they try, won't have the ability to be grade one horses. Just like no matter how hard I try, I'll never be as good as Michael Jordan.

No but a great majority never get to their peak because they simply dont try as hard as others. There are many reasons why they may not try including poor management and/or soundness/breathing issues. But no horse wins stakes races without a great deal of effort on their part, usually more than horses of equal or even greater ability. The difference between a maiden 10 and Curlin is far more narrow than the difference between you and MJ. (I'm assuming that you arent LeBron or Kobe)
