Pyro Smyro.. What A Slow Horse...

Hello Handicappers,
Oh, I Know Just Because Pyro Work-outs On Poly Were
Decent, That Doesn't Mean He Likes To Race On It? What An Excuse.
He Is Slooooooooooooowww And That's That. The Only Fast Horse
He Ran Against Was War Pass, And He Lost 3 Times?, Big Brown Runs
With His Neck Way Forward Tail Str Back He's Fast And Except For
His Color Runs Like Seattle Slew. Yes I Am That Old To Remember.
After I Seen The Florida Derby, And If You Really Watch It , And You
Can't See The Animal He Is In Looks Stride Professional Way He Lets\ Kent Control Him, Then I Can't Convince You, He Is The Real Deal. Just Ask Dutrwo. Remenber I Told You 2 Wks Ago. Get Your Exotics Ready With Big Brown On Top,

I think that was my favorite part.

The race meant absolutely nothing. Several of us mentioned on the Blue Grass thread that he didn't figure to like Poly since most Pulpits don't. Just like Cool Coal Man and Big Truck didn't figure to like it either and they didn't do much. Using a poly or grass race when handicapping a dirt race is pointless, just like using a slop race when a horse runs on a dry track. All the race did was help Pyro's price for the Derby.

what does that mean ? who cares what several of you mentioned, even if he did not like the track, he should be better then 10th... it was a horrible performance and if you like pyro you need to be worried.

Oh, but you don't need to be worried about Court Vision failing to win a race that finished in :40.86?

HUGE DIFFERENCE...

court vision ran 3rd not tenth... it was only his second start of the year....

court vision will be between 25 and 40-1

pyro will be the second betting choice.....

If he liked it, he would've crushed the field. He didn't, so what difference is it if he was 6th or 10th? He was there for the fitness aspect, which he figured to get. Yeah, I'm sure Asmussen would've liked to have won but they had to figure that there was a reasonable chance he wouldn't take to it at all. The bottom line is this: synthetic surfaces in no way resemble anything close to real dirt. And if I may quote Bob Baffert, "Polytrack makes good horses look average, and average horses look good".

No. Colonel John will be. What about Cool Coal Man and Big Truck? Do their backers need to be worried now? I like the former, and I couldn't have been more pleased with Saturday's result. Joke of a surface, and he already has the earnings. As long as he got some air into his lungs, I'm good. Pyro fans should feel the same way.

And Court Vision's odds won't make him any more of a winner.

also who are you to say he would have crushed anything ?

he is slow, his times are slow just like everyone else.
he was beat 3 times easily by war pass...
you really dont make much sense

hockey2315 04-13-2008 06:12 PM

What distances did War Pass beat Pyro at? What kind of pace scenarios?

Good point, I really liked him going into the race, and with those fractions, to me he had no excuses.

jcs11204 04-13-2008 06:17 PM

HOCKEY CAN YOU FIX this i am tyrying to pm you this is what im getting

hockey2315 has exceeded their stored private messages quota and can not accept further messages until they clear some space.

Slewstoo 04-13-2008 06:24 PM

I really hope the betting public feels this way and we can get Pyro at 10-1

War Pass is a miler who realistically outran his distance limitations in the Wood yet he still couldn't win. And BTW, those three wins were as a 2YO at 6 furlongs, 1 mile and 1 1/16 miles in a sea of ocean-like slop at Monmouth.

And how fast was Pyro supposed to run in the races he won? His final 1/4 in the Risen Star was under 23 seconds, which is unheard of on dirt.

why not? war pass beat pyro at two, at shorter distances. times have changed, and the results may as well.

hockey2315 04-13-2008 10:07 PM

I would love to see War Pass vs. Commentator at a mile. . . Commentator would probably spit the bit, though. . .

"And if I may quote Bob Baffert, "Polytrack makes good horses look average, and average horses look good"."

Finishing tenth is not a race of an average horse. Even if he wasn't cranked up he surely should have been somewhere in the vicinity of the top three. Nazfger last year with STREET SENSE was believable that he wasn't cranked up and he managed a fourth place blanket finish. PYRO only blanketed the ambulance around the track.I expect more than that from a good horse.
