ran another good one yesterday in the oceanside, turf, dirt,

no problem.

what do you have this year to compete with what baffert has ?
he seems to have a big tough group.

did mandella win anything at hollywood, he seemed out out of the picture there.

Three Words for what Mandella did at Hollywood...

The Tin Man

Coming to Arlington Park next for the Million - you should go check him out Paul. Better than ever at 8 years young.

Geez, thanks Secretariat. I was driving myself crazy trying to remember that race.

Pedigree Ann 07-20-2006 10:49 AM

Back in the olden days, there was another track near Chicago named Washington Park. In Homewood, Ill. Looking in my American Racing Manual for 1952, its racing dates were july 28 to September 1, while Arlington's were June 16 to July 26. (Hawthorne got Sept 2 to October 11). Each track had its own Futurity, although it was not uncommon for them to be won by the same horse. When Washington Park closed (actually, I think it still runs harness under another name; the TB racing was transferred) Arlington got its dates and its top races but chose to merge the two futurities into one.

Apparently, there was a Cahokia Downs somewhere in Illinois near St. Louis at some point in time.

Good old Tin Man...who doesn't love seeing sons of Affirmed still on the track?

AP has as good a turf course as anywhere and a lousy dirt track. That'll change when they put the synthetic surface in.

It won't be long before we won't have any living triple crown winners OR any offspring of triple crown winners competing on the track. Hard to believe.

That horse ran absolutely incredible yesterday. They went :21 3/5, :44 4/5 in a mile race on the turf and he still only lost by a head. That horse is a freak. I think he's one of the best 3 year olds in the country. If he comes out of the race good, the Haskell was one of the races that they are considering for him.
