thank you, that answer i gave is how i feel.
he can produce first time winners also,i dont know the exact percentage, but i have hit a few at calder. normally show fast works, and have lots of early speed. i think his best offspring to date has to be the darley horse..... songster, who actually just " UNRETIRED'

your original question could have been a wee bit less vague, no?

however, in addition to what the legend of pg1985 said to you, i would add frailty to the description.

Thought it was a straight forward question

I'm concerned about the soundness of his get, but that's a concern for most of the current stallions.

This would be a great question for Robert Fox, who is a member here and a regular on the show. You can also ask a couple of trainers and hopefully you'd get an unbiased opinion.

I've looked at a few in the past to claim. Ultiamtely, as with many claimers, you pass for a variety of reasons. One of the reasons that has come up here, very generically, is that IMO, for the most part, there is a notion out there that they tend not to "hold up". Some people haven't seen them as durable racehorses who can stand up to training, works, etc. and racing on a day in/day out, week in/week out, and month after month basis. Maybe true, maybe not. But perception often becomes the reality in this game.

I watched a lot of them come out and I did see that after a few starts -- 3 or 4, maybe a few more -- they seemed to get "off" or need some time, had to back off, etc. I can't say that as 3yo's they were underdeveloped as a whole and needed more time, but trainers would be qualified to answer that -- especially as to how they hold up. Confirmation is one thing. What and how that confirmation plays out is something different.

Good luck.

Eric

There you go. As far as most of the current stallions -- well, that's a discussion for another time and place, LOL, however, I agree.
