They are using the same system and I am sure it still happens.

Oh, nuts; I HATE that I keep missing this special; I really want to see it. Cable is still out at home thanks to the heat and the rain.

I cant believe how stupid those guys were. If you know you are going to hit the pick 6, put a couple of thousand into the wager. Don't make it look so obvious. I would love to see this program because I dont know the in depth stuff that went on.

Yep, perfect example of being too greedy. At least take 2 horses in one or two of the first few legs of the P-6.. Costs more, but when you know you're going to win, what's it matter.
Apparently these guys didn't even need to make a wager to make money. The ringleader was able to duplicate and cash many "unclaimed" tickets for thousands of dollars.

From what I know of the story (which is very little), they could have nailed 4 pick 6's a year and live very very well. Stupid stupid people.

Euro, these guys were not gamblers. Any one of us on here would know how suspicious the way that ticket was put together would be. They simply didn't get it.

Good point. We gamblers would know not to end a ticket with 3 or 4 singles - lol. Heck, we would have at least one leg with ALL.

And wasn't part of what tipped off the authorities that such a longshot won the Classic? This special is about the Breeder's Cup P6 thing, right? And when Volponi came in the payoff was so huge that it triggered a second look.

Or is this a different P6 scandal? Ooh, I really want to see this thing...

randallscott35 07-19-2006 10:55 AM

Yep, my boy Volponi saved the day.
