It's getting to that point where they are going to justify pulling these horses out of training before the TC...Win a couple fat checks and off to the shed...Unreal.

Yes, because we are in dire need of another son of Pulpit at stud next year.

come on, Pulpit's are as sound as a wooden nickel.;)

It is always nice to see a horses stud plans wrapped up before he wins a grade 1 race.

pgardn 03-09-2008 09:23 PM

I officially hope he fails miserably.

I like the horse, hope he does not
get hurt, but here is hoping he runs
some real duds.

I now vex him with complete
boredom each time he enters the
gate... complete disinterest in racing.

It is always refreshing to know that Sheikh Mo is trying to beat the crowd and get the pre-Triple Crown discount. I will have to ask Drugs because only he would know this but has there ever been a KY Derby fav who consistently runs slower than his female counerparts on the same race card?

darley better hope that trend doesn't continue in his next career!!!

So, if Pyro flounders along, and doesn't win a Grade 1, will they race him next year?

If he doesnt win a grade 1 this year they may geld him

Danzig 03-09-2008 10:39 PM

my guess would be no.

blackthroatedwind 03-09-2008 10:41 PM

I don't blame the owners for selling ( in fact they're very smart ). I guess money is meaningless to the Sheik, so he can way overpay for anything he wants, and nobody else is even in the marketplace. And, the only way we get to see decent 4YOs anymore is if they pretty much flop at 3 ( like Circular Quay ).

I guess if you have a personal fancy for a 3YO you should hope it flops or gets a minor injury before it gets snatched up by the Sheik.

Danzig 03-09-2008 10:42 PM

to be honest, i'd do the same thing in their shoes.

well, i guess it depends. if i was small time, i'd sell. if i was loaded like some of these owners, i'd tell the sheik to go scratch.

Sorry if I missed it, but do we know what the number was?

CSC 03-09-2008 10:46 PM

Let them have him I say, I would be more worried if they got a hold of Smart Strike instead who right now is arguably the best sire in North America. Losing him would hurt, he is perhaps as irreplaceable a Stallian there is at the moment.

i just read an article about it on bloodhorse, of course it doesn't say. but i'm sure there are incentives if he wins certain races/gr 1's throughout the remainder of the year. his future will be decided by the sheik post-bc, when he officially changes hands.
