ready's echo entered weds

one of the more intriguing 2yos from last year is set to make his second start on weds, seemingly months and months after working 2f over and over.

in case nobody remembers him, he's the pletcher MTR colt that was last a mile entering the stretch in a msw and closed furiously to run 2nd. toga i think.

Yes, August 8 at Saratoga, and the horse that beat him was Z Humor. I've been waiting a while for him to run back. Can't imagine he'll be anything betable. Intersestingly the 3rd place finisher that day, Pick Off, is entered in this race as well.

Wasn't his Beyer terrible even though his finishing fractions were insanely fast? Might get some value on him.

Never saw the Beyer, but I know the time of the race was very slow (105 2/5). I'm pretty sure that there aren't too many people unaware of that race that would be playing Gulfstream on a Wednesday.

I know there are some, BTW for one if I remember correctly, that were less than impressed by his performance.

I just watched it again for fun and it is still amazing to me. Knowing how long you have to wait for him to hit the quarter pole after the rest of the field has already straightened away makes it all the more hillarious.

He's on everyone with a pulse's watch list ( I don't have a pulse......I'm a demon....thus I'm waiting for him like I wait for the flu......to avoid it ). He won't be anywhere near the price he should be.

VOL JACK 03-01-2008 08:28 PM

good luck to anyone that decides to play a deep closer on gulfstream's main track.

blackthroatedwind 03-01-2008 08:35 PM

I will be shocked if this horse is very far out of it early on Wednesday.

Also have Manistique/Storm Cat 1st time starter entered as well. Colt that was mentioned on this site awhile back by the name of "Old Ninety Eight" which I thought was a really cool name:cool:

Hopefully he turns out to be something special.

TitanSooner 03-03-2008 01:12 AM

Old Ninety Eight is not a first time starter.

Kinda hard for him to not be closer to the lead than he was in his debut.. but you never know.

letswastemoney 03-03-2008 04:48 AM

the next Silky Sullivan? :)

Thanks for clarifying that... How many times has he ran and where did he finish? Hate to think he's going to be a dud :(

blackthroatedwind 03-05-2008 02:20 PM

Ready's Echo is a sneaky 3:5 early.

Oh to be a bookmaker.

Old Ninety Eight scratched.....out of fear I assume.

i laughed, twice...

you have to root for the horse, but i won't bet him...

blackthroatedwind 03-05-2008 02:47 PM

I didn't see the race but see he won.

Wired the field I assume?

hoovesupsideyourhead 03-05-2008 02:47 PM

way off the pace.....

NoLuvForPletch 03-05-2008 02:47 PM

He was about 10 off them early

So is he a 1 turn, elongated sprint closer, or will he go 2 turns?

Closed from way out of it to win going away. Looked like a 2/5 horse. Ran a little erratic in the lane but was tons the best.

blackthroatedwind 03-05-2008 02:48 PM

I guess we'll find out in the Florida Derby.
