This sure is some birthday. I am a PhD candidate and instructor at Northern Illinois University where apparently 15-18 people were just shot.
The crazy part for me is that this semester I am actually in the lecture hall (every Monday and Wednesday) where the shooting apparently took place .
Needless to say, I'm a little freaked right now, although so far I believe that everyone I know is okay.
I sure hope it stays that way.

Again, thanks to everyone for the birthday wishes yesterday and for keeping NIU in your thoughts. It was certainly a crazy day yesterday, and although I feel absolutely terrible about what happened to the people that were killed and injured, selfishly I am very thankful that it seems like all of my personal friends, co-workers, and students are okay.
