Sad afternoon at Aqueduct as friends Thanasi Sarris and Del Carroll lost Phillip X in a breakdown near the finish of the 7th race. One of the series of brothers from amazingly productive NY-bred dam Aristie, Phillip X looked to be on his way to his first Aqueduct Inner victory. It was his 31st career start after amassing a 2-6-3 mark for earnings of $131,500.

It was yet another day on the NY circuit where more than one of the venerable sons of Aristie were on the program as Stellianos made his 79th trip to the post in his 9th year of racing (79/11-11-14, $415,677). Levendis (74/8-7-10, $339,000), Thanasi (47/3-4-5, $186,800), Christian X (10/1-3-1, $59,184) and Alexandros (8/1-2-3, $70,500) are the other siblings out of the remarkable mare, who has a Say Florida Sandy weanling at her side now.

Hearts go out to the Kouray-Sarris family, Del and his staff on the loss of Phillip X who was the barn's top character and favorite..
